The northern passage leads you away from the Felix's prison and snakes deeper into the mountain side. Although some of you are very sneaky, the group as a whole is not. (OOC: I'm looking at you Iris).

Eventually, with Taryk and Jasmine in the lead, you come to another chamber: this one much larger than the previous chambers. The split-timber floor is six or seven yards wide and the stalactite-covered ceiling is at least that high. In the center of the room, a shallow pit holds a massive pyre, littered with corpses and billowing dark black smoke. The smoke seems to be escaping through a hole of some sort in the center of ceiling.

Around the perimeter of the room lies a ragtag collection of old furs, tattered bedrolls, bays of hail, and other "cheap" bedding. Narrow passages lead away from this chamber and toward each of the cardinal directions (OOC: meaning: there are three other exits).

Six or seven of the "beds" are occupied by resting goblins. As the party draw near, a couple of the goblins look up, bleary-eyed, but suspicious. "Huthar? Grusp? Skrodlak?"

- OOC: Actually, you've caught them by surprise. So, if you desire to, Merrill can make a single attack roll before initiative. If you do so, please post an initiative roll, as well.
- OOC: If Merrill attacks, I'll also need initiative rolls from everyone else.

- OOC: Of course, Merrill doesn't HAVE to attack. You could instead wait to see how your party responds to this. If you wait, however, then you might lose the element of surprise.

Merrill raises her bow and looses an arrow at the goblin that spoke.

OOC: 5+2=7 to hit, 9 damage if this counts as a surprise attack.
2+1=3 for initiative.
